Goth is not a style of music normally associated with Oklahoma's music scene. However, it does accurately describes the Symphonic Goth Metal sound of Oklahoma City band Angelical Tears.
Formed in October of 2006, Angelical Tears' first show was in the "March Bandness" battle of the bands contest organized by the local radio station 94.7FM "The Buzz". The band quickly proved itself by placing in the top four final bands.
Angelical Tears' influences range from Classical music to Goth Rock, Heavy Metal to Alternative. This, along with alchemical combination of the ethereal vocals of Julia Flansburg, heavy guitars of Derek Teague and Steven Bittle, the melodic keyboards of David Baker, pounding bass of Glenn Fansburg, and thundering drums of John Kenerson give Angelical Tears a style and sound that sets them apart from their peers in the Oklahoma music scene.
Currently, Angelical Tears is preparing to go into the studio to record an EP of original music with plans for an additional, full length CD within the coming year. The band is also exploring ways to bring more of a theatrical element to their live shows and looks forward to hitting venues around the state and beyond!
